Through painting, Salisbury creates a visual language for the processes and forms our minds and bodies are made out of, but we often cannot see or name.Painting what we are made out of, forces Salisbury to consider:
Are our bodies both material and spiritual? Are feelings more than just hormones being released at the appropriate time? Where does consciousness come from? Are things beautiful ‘out there’, or only when they enter into our minds?...Inside Salisbury’s painted bodies, lumps of pink flesh heave themselves up and buckle under their own weight, heavy with a desire to be more than just material and functional. But since becoming a Christian, the organisms now also stretch up, becoming light and airy, swept up by the cool of a breeze, the ‘Ruach.’The viewer is invited to swim through the internal body that simultaneously melts into and dances above the ‘dust’.Salisbury is the Artist in Residence at The Royal High School, Bath (2024-2026.) She received a First Class BA Hons in Fine Art with Art History from The Slade School of Fine Art, UCL (2024) and was the winner of the Bloomsbury Festival ‘New Wave Art Prize’ (2024).Recent exhibitions include: ‘Porphureos’, Gallery daSein, Shenzhen (2025); ‘Home Bodies’, Unit 2, Hastings (2025); ‘Art on a Postcard: Paradise Lost’, Purist Gallery, London (2025); 'Fizz, Droop and Drool’, City Lit Gallery, London (2024);‘The Slade School of Fine Art Undergraduate Degree Show’, London (2024).
